Cross Age Interaction

We have four house groups, Burnanga, Barra, Djarring, and Gurburr. We plan activities regularly that require these houses to work co-operatively as a team. We also have a buddy program that gives older children in the school an opportunity to mentor and support a younger buddy.

Information Technology and Communication

The use of technology is embedded in all teaching and learning sessions. Students have access to interactive TVs, laptops, ipads, desktop computers and digital cameras.

Visual Arts

At Echuca Twin Rivers Primary School, our Visual Arts program is a vibrant and essential part of our students’ learning journey. Through creative exploration, students from all year levels are encouraged to express themselves, think critically and engage with the world around them through art.

Our Visual Arts curriculum is designed to inspire curiosity and creativity. Students experiment with a wide range of materials and techniques; from painting and drawing to sculpture, and printmaking. Each project is thoughtfully connected to age-appropriate themes and cross-curricular learning, enriching their understanding and appreciation of art in all its forms.

In addition to hands-on artmaking, students learn to discuss and reflect on artworks; their own, their classmates’, and those by professional artists from diverse backgrounds. This fosters confidence, visual literacy and an appreciation of artistic expression.

We celebrate our students' creativity through displays within the school, community exhibitions and our annual Specialist showcase, where families are invited to see the incredible work our young artists produce.

Our goal is to nurture a love of the arts, build practical skills, and empower students to express their unique perspectives in a supportive and inspiring environment.

Auslan at Echuca Twin Rivers Primary School

2025 has marked an exciting milestone at Echuca Twin Rivers Primary School with the inaugural year of Auslan (Australian Sign Language) being introduced as our official language program — and it’s already been a huge success!
Students from Prep to Year 6 have embraced Auslan with enthusiasm and curiosity, showing great interest in learning how to communicate using their hands, facial expressions and body language. The program has been warmly received by both students and families, with many children even practising their signs beyond the classroom.
So far this year, students have explored engaging topics such as greetings, family members, colours, and pets, building a strong foundation in Auslan vocabulary and expression.
Looking ahead, students will continue to develop their signing skills with fun and meaningful themes including:
-Weather and Seasons
- Feelings and Emotions
- Food and Drinks
- School and Classroom Signs
- Sports and Hobbies
- Australian Animals
As part of our commitment to inclusive education, learning Auslan helps students appreciate and respect the diversity of communication within our community. It also provides them with practical tools for building empathy and inclusion.
We are proud to be nurturing a school environment where every voice — spoken or signed — is valued.
